Drink and Beverage Industry

The production process must meet high standards of purity to preserve the unique characteristics of the brand. From creating a soft drink’s unique flavour to ensuring the purity of bottled water, stringent production and quality standards must be met.

Typical applications in the Drink and Beverage Industry:

- Cleaning

- Cooling water

- Degassing

- Distillation

- Filling

- Heat transfer (hot water)

- Mixing

- Packaging / Bottling

- Product transfer

- Refrigerant handling

Edible Oil and Fats Industry

For refining the oil, there are three basic processes in the refinery. First process is neutralizing the oil in the neutralizer to remove the free fatty acids (FFA) by adding caustic soda. Neutralized oil is drawn into the second vessel called bleacher where colour of oil is removed by bleaching process. Bleached oil then goes to the filter press where bleaching earth and chemicals are separated and clean bleached oil is then drawn to deodorizer.

Typical applications in the Edible Oil and Fats Industry:

- Central vacuum

- Cleaning

- Cooling water

- Degassing

- Distillation

- Heat transfer (hot water)

- Packaging / Bottling

- Product transfer

- Thin film evaporation

- Vacuum drying
- Washing

Bio Diesel Production

In principle all edible oils and fats – vegetable and animal – can be transformed to bio diesel. For fuel-specific properties, pre-treated oils from rapeseeds and sunflower seeds are preferred in Europe, but others like soya oil, palm and palm kernel oil, coconut oil, cottonseed oil and animal fats are applicable. Transesterification is based on the chemical reaction of triglycerides with methanol to form methylesters (bio diesel) and glycerine in the presence of an alkaline catalyst. This reaction is effected in a two-stage mixer-settler unit.  Transesterification takes place in the mixing section, while the subsequent settling section allows for the separation of methylesters as the light phase from glycerine water as the heavy phase. A subsequent countercurrent washing step for the methylester removes minute by-product components and gives a bio diesel "ready for use" after the final drying step. The surplus methanol contained in the glycerine water is removed in a rectification column, which yields methanol in a condition and purity ready for use as a recycle stream to the process. For further glycerine water purification additional steps of chemical treatment, evaporation, distillation and bleaching may follow optionally to achieve pharmaceutical-grade or technical-grade glycerine.

Process Steps for Bio Diesel Production:
- Transesterification
- Separating biodiesel/glycerine
- Bio diesel washing
- Bio diesel drying
- Glycerine processing
- Methanol recovery

Bio Ethanol Production

Bio ethanol is made by fermentation of renewable feedstocks, followed by distillation and dehydration processes. Typical feedstock materials are:
- starches and cereals (wheat, corn, rye, cassava, potatoes, rice)
- sugars (cane molasses, beet molasses, sugar syrup, fructose, whey)

Raw material for bio ethanol is sugar derived in an enzymatic reaction from starch. The fermentation generates ethyl alcohol with the help of yeast. This ethyl alcohol (bio ethanol) is then separated by distillation. For petrol-grade bio ethanol, the alcohol must be dehydrated, raising the concentration of bio ethanol to more than 99%. The by-product of the ethanol process is stillage. It can be used to fuel biogas plants for energy generation, or it can be converted into DDGS, a protein-rich food for animals.

Process Steps for Bio Ethanol Production:
- Slurrification
- Fermentation
- Distillation
- Rectification
- Dehydration
- CO2-recovery
- Stillage treatment

Industrial Steam Industry

Steam under pressure is at elevated temperatures, greater than 100 °C and therefore can be used to transfer energy to different processes. This steam can be used to create energy, hot water and many other uses.

Typical Industrial Steam applications:

- Heat transfer (hot oil)

- Heat transfer (hot water)

- Pressure generation

- Product transfer

LPG, LNG Production and Distribution

During the various stages of distribution, pumps are required to transfer LPG in order to compensate the pressure losses in the flow process. Under normal atmospheric conditions, liquid gases are gaseous. Depending on the temperature at certain pressures they can be liquefied.

Typical LPG / LNG applications:

- Bottle filling

- Dispenser stations

- Filling

- Gas compression

- Product transfer

- Tank farms / storage

- Trucks

Rubber and Plastic Processing

Raw materials such as plastic pellets or powders are continuously transformed from a solid into a molten state and then conveyed and forced at high pressure. The design corresponds to the shape of the product to be manufactured. The reversibility of the melting process then allows the molten profile to cool down to the final product.

Typical applications in Rubber & Plastic processing:

- Central vacuum

- Component positioning

- Extrusion / Calibration

- Heat transfer (hot oil)

- Heat transfer (hot water)

- Product transfer
